The Lebanon Creek Greenway is a popular regional park that is situated on the outskirts of the city of Kelowna, British Columbia. It is located along scenic Lakeshore Road in an idyllic setting amongst orchards, wineries, and vineyards. It is a beautiful slice of the Okanagan Valley and provides an important corridor for local wildlife to move from the mountains down to the lake.
Stephens Coyote Ridge features several hiking trails that lead visitors through idyllic grasslands to a small lake called Lightblue Lake, where you can swim and use the rope swing. There are also several ponds within the park that are perfect for viewing wildlife, which includes coyotes of course. The park also boasts excellent panoramic views of Okanagan Lake, the city of Kelowna, and Okanagan Mountain.
Scenic Canyon Regional Park is an incredibly gorgeous and underrated hiking area that is located on the outskirts of Kelowna, British Columbia. The park lives up to its name and offers visitors the opportunity to explore this “scenic canyon”, and its amazing geologic formations. The canyon is a must-see attraction for anybody visiting the Okanagan Valley and will take your breath away at every corner.
The Ellison Connector hiking trail connects two of Vernon, British Columbia's most popular attractions, Predator Ridge and Ellison Provincial Park. The trail meanders through pine forests that occasionally open up for views of a world-class PGA golf course, as well as spectacular Okanagan Lake. The hike is around 9.4 km round trip with a moderate difficulty level and is just one of many hiking trails that are scattered around the village of Predator Ridge.
The Albercutx Watchtower sits high above the sea and at 380 meters it provides a spectacular panoramic viewpoint for hikers. The views from the top include Cap de Formentor, the island of Colomer, the Bay of Pollença, Platja de Formentor, and the Sierra de Tramuntana, which is Mallorca’s alpine mountain range. Albercutx Watchtower is a must-see for the views alone but does offer some interesting historical value as well.
Cala Boquer is situated in the magnificent Boquer Valley on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Spain. The valley is incredibly scenic and features dramatic mountain ranges that are littered with hiking trails. The area lies just north-east of Port de Pollença and most people who hike here have the overall goal of reaching the stunning cove of Cala Boquer. The beach is the fantastic end to the hour-long trek and provides visitors with tremendous views looking out over the turquoise blue waters at Cap de Formentor. The hike is one of the most popular attractions on Mallorca and is well worth a visit.
Vernon, British Columbia is a city that is situated within the spectacular Okanagan Valley. The valley is well -known for its excellent wine and fruit-producing and has some of the sunniest and hottest weather in Canada, along with milder winters that are not typical of the country. Aside from the lakes and beaches of Vernon, the city is also surrounded by mountains that are perfect for hiking. There are hiking trails on pretty much every mountain that show off the incredible views of Okanagan Lake, Kalamalka Lake, and Swan Lake.
BX Creek and Falls are located on Tillicum Road just outside of Vernon, British Columbia, and are situated in forested ravines and gullies that have been naturally carved out by the water for many millennia. They are just one of many spectacular attractions within the desirable Okanagan Valley, BC, and provide a rainforest-like feel as opposed to that of the desert-like valley below. The lushness of the place can be directly attributed to the consistently moist microclimate that is created by the canyon walls and the creek working together.
The Kettle Valley Rail Trail is an extensive hiking trail system that is around 650 km (400 miles) long and takes hikers through the hills and mountains of the scenic Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. The trail includes massive tunnels that cut straight into the mountains to allow for trains to easily pass through. It also features what is probably the most popular section called Myra Canyon which is located just outside of the city of Kelowna. Myra Canyon is an attraction because of the 18 wooden bridge tressels that were built here in order for the trains to safely navigate the rugged terrain of Okanagan Mountain.
Big Eddy Bluffs is a relatively unknown trail that provides hikers with splendid panoramic views of the small mountain village of Revelstoke, British Columbia. It also has great views of the mighty Columbia River and shows off the area’s dramatic mountain peaks. From the top of the bluffs, you will get a clear shot of the river’s beautiful blue water as well as the large elbow in the river known as an “eddy”. The trail itself is located in the aptly named riverside community of Big Eddy, which is just across the bridge from the larger town of Revelstoke. The area is known for its plethora of outdoor activities and has plenty of great hikes but the Big Eddy Bluffs Trail is a nice hike that provides a big reward for little effort.
Mount Revelstoke National Park is a must-see attraction for anybody visiting the adventure-filled mountain town of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. This park is perfect for those looking to embark on a once in a lifetime hiking excursion and features hikes of all difficulties and lengths. But whether you choose to do a day hike or go exploring around the mountains for several days you will be utterly blown away by the true mesmerizing beauty of this National Park. It provides sensational views of the surrounding Selkirk and Monashee Mountain ranges and their peaks, which are brilliantly abounded with ancient glaciers that were leftover from the last ice age.
Puig de Maria is located in Pollença on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca in the country of Spain. It features a nearly 800-year-old monastery that is perched high atop a lonely mountain called Puig de Maria and is situated just outside of Pollenca. The monastery consists of a church, a fortified tower as well as farm buildings and was home to many different nuns and monks over the centuries. The pilgrimage shrine still operates to this day but is used as a hostel. There is also a convenient restaurant at the top for meals and drinks that serves traditional Mallorquian food.
Monashee Provincial Park is located in a remote wilderness area situated in the Monashee Mountain range in between the Okanagan Valley and the Kootenays region of British Columbia, Canada. It consists of a large protected swath of mountainous area that contains old-growth cedar, spruce, and hemlock trees that have remained untouched by man for many millennia. The park’s ecology ranges from lush green forests in the valley bottoms and, in the higher elevations, you will find beautiful alpine meadows full of wonderful wildflowers and many different kinds of edible berries.
Rim Rocks Trail is a moderately difficult hike with some intense areas. It is located in the community of Coldstream and is 30 minutes outside of the city of Vernon, British Columbia, and is situated high up in the mountainous wilderness area known as King Edward. The trail takes you through logging clear cuts followed by incredibly dense forests covered in vibrant green mosses and lichens,
Rocky Ridge Park is a small park and hiking area located on Turtle Mountain in beautiful Vernon, British Columbia, and is the perfect example of the Okanagan Valley’s arid desert-like environment. It provides sweeping 360 views and is perhaps the most complete view of the city of Vernon and that includes a view Okanagan Lake looking out over Kin Beach and Adventure Bay.
Longspoon Loop is a scenic hiking trail located in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia at the world-famous golfing village known as Predator Ridge. The PGA course features many different activities and amenities and has hundreds of residential homes and vacation rentals for golf lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Predator Ridge is around 15 minutes’ drive from the city of Vernon and around 30 minutes’ drive from Kelowna
The Sicamous Lookout is situated high in the mountains of the Shuswap region in British Columbia, Canada, and features sweeping views of the valley below which includes the town of Sicamous, Mara Lake, and Shuswap Lake. The Lookout was originally built as a platform for hang gliders but found some popularity among locals as well as tourists who love the breathtaking views.
The Kamloops Lake View Point is located along the Trans-Canada Highway just outside of the city of Kamloops in the small lakeside village of Savona, British Columbia. It provides a place to take a break from road travel, use the bathroom and take in the sweeping views of Kamloops Lake. The viewpoint offers hiking trails that lead up to even higher and more panoramic views of the valley and its desert landscapes.
The Campbell - Brown hiking trail is a brand new trail in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, and is situated just a few minute’s drive from the city of Vernon along Highway 97. The hiking trail was built using remnants of the old highway between Vernon, and Kelowna, and features spectacular views of the sought after Kalamalka Lake.
The Seton Lake Lookout, in Lillooet, British Columbia is a short hike(1.3km) that leads to fantastic views of the blue Seton Lake and its surrounding mountains. There are several different spots to sit and take great photos of the dramatic scenery that Lillooet is abundant in. The Seton Lake Lookout is an excellent stop if you're in the area or just passing by on your way to Whistler or Duffy Lake.
