About Lake Havasu, Arizona, USA

Fun activities can be enjoyed year-round in Lake Havasu, Arizona and with more than 300 days of clear skies, you can bet sunshine is always abundant. It is a literal oasis in the desert and is surrounded by gorgeous, but hot, dry, and beautifully desolate landscapes that make the lake seem all the more inviting. Lake Havasu City is a haven for water sports and party boats, so on spring break, the city fills up with tourists, in particular college students who are looking to let loose. In the winter months, it tends to be a lot more relaxed bringing in retirees and snowbirds. Lake Havasu receives over 1 million visitors per year and perhaps its most popular attraction is the London Bridge and “yes” it is the real London Bridge, but we’ll get to that later.

The London Bridge

In 1967 a wealthy businessman by the name of Robert P. McCulloch captured the world’s attention when he purchased the London Bridge from England in order to have it shipped to Arizona and reassembled over the Colorado River. Nowadays the bridge is a neat attraction right in the downtown area and the boardwalk along the water has many different souvenir shops and clothing stores as well as restaurants to stop and eat or have a drink.

Activities

As you can imagine boating and water sports are a favorite pastime for lake goers, but being smack dab in the middle of the desert means plenty of trails for ATVs and in Arizona, the law allows for street legal ATVs, as long as you get the proper registration. Walking along the lakeside boardwalk you will be able to rent boats or join in on a sightseeing tour on the water that navigates around the lake’s beautiful canyons. You can rent party boats for the whole family or small boats for two. Whether your plans include boating, jet skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, canoeing or just relaxing you will be able to find the perfect scenario to choose from.
