Box Canyon State Park is a gorgeous location situated in the US state of Idaho near the towns of Wendell and Buhl. Both towns are great spots for visiting the park and will take you to the trailhead.

Thousand Springs is massive with several different sections that are called units, including; Malad Gorge, Niagara Springs, and Ritter Island! At the trailhead’s parking lot, you will have to pay a $7 vehicle fee. This one-time fee will get you into all of the other units of Thousand Springs.

Hiking

As you leave the trailhead parking lot you will instantly see the canyon and be greeted with amazing views. Peering in, the aqua blue water will glisten on a sunny day. The blue waters of the spring will immediately entice you to climb down and go for a swim! The blue pools can be accessed via a rocky trail that leads down into the canyon. Following the canyon, the ledge for around 25 mins will take hikers to the trail into the canyon. The trail is rugged, so make sure to have good shoes.

Waterfalls

When you reach the bottom of the canyon, keep following the trail and you will taken to a gorgeous turquoise-blue waterfall. This spectacular waterfall is around 20 feet tall and rages year-round.

Box Canyon Springs

To reach the hidden gem of the park, Box Canyon Springs, keep trekking through the canyon for another 15 minutes or so. The path will take you to a picturesque aqua-blue pool. The water is cool year-round, and at 53 degrees Fahrenheit, the spring is a welcome cool-off in the hot summer months.
