About Johns Family Nature Conservancy Regional Park, Kelowna
Johns Family Nature Conservancy in Kelowna, British Columbia offers up truly inspiring views of Okanagan Lake and the beautiful scenery that surrounds it. This public park got its name when the area was scorched by a massive wildfire and the notable Johns Family decided to donate 323 hectares of land in order to conserve the rest of this pristine wilderness and let the public enjoy it as well. The park was therefore renamed from Cedar Mountain Park to its current title Johns Family Conservancy Regional Park(too long). Nowadays the park is a total of 402.5 hectares.
Like much of the Okanagan Valley, the park has a semi-arid environment with desert-like conditions and contains the typical shrub steppe that you see all over the valley and in the summertime temperatures can soar upwards to 35-40 Celsius.

What to do
Hiking
Johns Family Nature Conservancy offers visitors great hiking trails with stunning views of the world-famous Okanagan Lake, but despite the fantastic scenery, Johns Family remains relatively unknown to the hoards of tourists that make Kelowna their summer getaway.
Besides the abundance of hiking trails throughout the park, there is also some popular rock climbing runs for the braver folks who are looking for an adrenaline rush.

The Okanagan Valley is an incredibly unique ecosystem within Canada and as such, it is packed full of scenic photographic opportunities. That being said it is hard to match the unobstructed panoramic views that you will get at Johns Family.
