Okanagan Hiking Trail: Coldstream Ranchlands Trail

Okanagan Hiking Trail: Coldstream Ranchlands Trail

The Coldstream Ranchlands Trail is situated on a former part of the historic Coldstream Ranch. This trail is located in the brand-new 126 hectares (311 acres) Ranchlands Subregional Park and features stunning valley views overlooking the city of Vernon, British Columbia, as well as the semi-arid desert grasslands and mountain views towards Lavington and Lumby. At the top, hikers will also be able to take in lake views of Kalamalka Lake and Okanagan Lake.

The trail is not only ideal for hiking, but also for mountain biking and horseback riding.

Our Experience

We thoroughly enjoyed our hike at the Coldstream Ranchland Trail and were blown away by the incredible Okanagan Valley views. We visited the trail in May and got to witness the spectacular wildflower season, where there were tons of what is called the Okanagan Sunflower (Arrowleaf Balsamroot). We had never seen so many and highly recommend a visit during the spring months. At the summit, we frolicked in the sunflowers and got some insane panoramic views looking towards Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park and Middleton Mountain. While looking towards the other direction, we took in Okanagan Lake views and spotted Rocky Ridge Park on Turtle Mountain.
