Varadero is a popular beach resort getaway that is located in the island nation of Cuba. It is situated on the Hicacos Peninsula in the Cuban province of Matanzas. It is one of the most famous travel destinations in the country and this is mostly due to Its pristine 21 km (13 mi) long white sand beach.

Varadero enjoys a solid tourist economy and typically sees over 1 million visitors every year who come to indulge in the gorgeous turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. How to Get to Varadero

Getting to Varadero requires a flight from your home country unless you are a citizen of the USA. If you are American you’ll have to find a connecting flight from another country to get into Cuba. We recommend using Aviasales as your flight booking platform for the cheapest flights possible.

Varadero Airport

The main airport serving Varadero, Cuba is the Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport (VRA). It is located about 25 km (16 miles) from the town of Varadero and is the second-busiest airport in Cuba after José Martí International Airport in Havana.

The Juan Gualberto Gómez International Airport has two terminals, one for international flights and another for domestic flights. The airport serves many airlines including Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Sunwing Airlines, WestJet, and many others.

Ground transportation options from the airport to Varadero include taxis, car rentals, and bus services. Taxis are readily available outside the airport terminal and typically take about 30 minutes to reach Varadero. There is also a bus service operated by Viazul that connects the airport to downtown Varadero and other destinations across Cuba.
