Playa Palmares, Puerto Vallarta

Playa Palmares is a splendid example of the seemingly endless beauty that Jalisco, Mexico offers visitors. It is located around 7.5 kilometers (4.6 miles) from the city of Puerto Vallarta and can be easily visited by car or city bus. The drive takes about 17 minutes depending on traffic and offers gorgeous scenery of the Bay of Banderas and its lovely white sand beaches and lush jungle-covered mountains.

Playa Palmares is one of the best beaches in the Puerto Vallarta area and is clean, safe, and enjoys the title of being Blue Flag certified, which means that extra care is put forth to keep up the beach’s cleanliness and good reputation. The beach gives visitors access to a parking lot with pedestrian entry, and also a ramp for wheelchairs and people with disabilities. The beach also boasts clean restrooms and shower facilities.

Playa Palmares has two access points and at the south end, there is a restaurant/bar called Canto Palmeres where you can enjoy food and drinks. There are also salesmen and women walking up and down the beach selling traditional Mexican snacks for fairly reasonable prices. At the north end of the playa, you can connect with another beautiful beach called Playa Punta Negra, which is also well worth a visit.
